Packer Park is an area that was originally inhabited by settlers from New Sweden, and the township ceased to exist following the Act of Consolidation in 1854. The park is named in honor of William Fisher Packer, a former governor of Pennsylvania, and was built as an approach to the grounds of the American International Exposition of 1926.
